HISTORY

The Matetic Family Group has a historical background of entrepreneurial activity. Jorge Matetic Cetinja, first generation of the family in Chile, arrived in Punta Arenas, coming from the ancient port of Fiume in the Austro-Hungarian Empire, nowadays called Rijeka in Croatia. After arriving he forged himself as a merchant starting with a small general store in Punta Arenas.
40 years later his son Jorge Matetic Fernandez developed an industrial corporation focused on steel wire production and distribution that has lead the industry for the past 75 years.
Jorge Matetic Riestra, his son, driven by the same entrepreneurial spirit and values built a diversified group with controling presence in 19 different companies throughout 6 different industries.
Today the Matetic Family Group is present in the Steel Industry, Agribusiness Industry, Wine Industry, Tourism Industry, Food Industry and Aerospace Industry.
Today, Jorge Matetic daughter and sons, 4th generation, lead this group which is determined to be here for the comming hundred years.
